Denzel Washington is a well-known actor who doesn’t need to be talked about. The awards he’s won and the success of his movies speak for themselves.

But he had to work hard to get known and be successful. Washington’s mother ran a beauty salon and was very strict and hard-working. His father also worked hard. He was a pastor and had two places of worship.

When the actor was 14 years old, his parents split up because they had grown apart. Denzel and his siblings were left with their mother, Lennis, to take care of them. Washington did say, though, that out of the three kids, he was the hardest on his mother.

Denzel rebelled after his parents split up and started hanging out with the wrong people. He said that one of his friends had died, that another had spent 28 years in prison, that another had spent 20 years in prison, and that a third had spent 12 years in prison.

Lennis pulled her son out of Oklahoma and sent him to a private school in upstate New York when she saw that he was going down a scary path.

This is where Washington made a big change in his life, but it wasn’t always easy. The actor said that he kept getting into trouble and was finally sent back home because of it. But his mother kept sending him back to school until he started behaving well.

He was in a band and liked sports. Then Denzel found out how much he liked the arts and acting. The famous person doesn’t think he could have done all of these things without the help of his mom.

The star of “Man on Fire” has never forgotten what Lennis said to him:

“Son, you never know who is praying for you.”

It’s a miracle that he didn’t go to jail like his friends.

When asked what advice he would give his 15-year-old son, the actor usually laughs and says:

“Hear what your mom says!”

Denzel thinks that if it weren’t for his mom’s help, he wouldn’t be able to live a comfortable life today.

A unique bond between a mother and her son

Denzel’s mom died in 2021, when she was 97 years old. When the famous person went on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” the host made him feel better about his loss.

Washington said that he, his siblings, and Lennis were all glad they had so much time together. Colbert brought up one of Denzel’s quotes when they talked about a mother’s love:

“A son’s first love is his mother.”

The painter added a line that said:

“A mother’s last true love is her child, especially her first child.”

Colbert had asked the actor how he remembers Lennis and the love she showed them.

But Washington could not finish talking about how much a mother loves her child without crying. He even said that his flood of tears surprised him because he didn’t cry at Lennis’ funeral. The famous person told the crowd that they should hug their loved ones while they were still alive.

Denzel says that his mother taught him how important family is. He has been married to Pauletta since 1983, and they have four children: John, Katia, Malcolm, and Olivia. He is very happy with his wife. He says that she is a Christian who taught all of their children to pray and follow the Bible.

He said, “A lot of prayers,” when asked what keeps a marriage strong. Pauletta is the most important person in the Washington family.

Denzel says that rushing home from work to watch his son’s games and spend time with his family is the best thing in the world.

“Life is family. I don’t see acting as my life. “It’s how I make a living,” said the actor.

Washington says that his mother is also responsible for him being humble. He talked about the beginning of his career, when he was just getting famous.

The star of “The Equalizer” said he went home to brag about how popular he was, but his mother put him in his place and reminded him again that he didn’t know whose prayers had helped him get where he was. She told him then to clean the windows.

Even when he was older and more successful, Lennis told Washington that to live a good life, he had to look deep inside himself. The actor decided to stop drinking at that point.

Washington thanked his mother for teaching him to be kind, and his actions show that he has a big heart as well. One time, the actor was driving through West Hollywood when he saw a homeless person in the middle of a busy street.

Denzel didn’t hesitate; he pulled over to the side of the road and put his life in danger to help the stranger. Even though it was hard to move through the busy street, he was able to pull the man off the road safely.

But he didn’t stop there. Washington called the police and waited with the man until they came. He stayed with him and helped him tell the police what happened.

Denzel stood by his side and gave him comfort while he was being questioned. He even gave the person a snack and a mask to keep the coronavirus from getting to him.
