Angelina Jolie enjoys a close relationship with her children, and she’s showing it off! The 49-year-old actress recently revealed that she got a matching tattoo with her daughter, Vivienne, along with the meaningful story behind it.
While Angelina is well-known for her tattoos, this one was special as it was done with her 16-year-old daughter, whom she shares with Brad Pitt. The two had a wonderful time collaborating on the Broadway production of The Outsiders, which inspired them to get matching ink as a keepsake.
In a recent interview with CR Fashion Book, Jolie shared, “I got ‘Stay Gold’ with my daughter Viv during our time on The Outsiders.” Photos display Jolie’s tattoo elegantly located on her inner arm, first revealed in April at the play’s opening night. However, the placement of Vivienne’s tattoo remains undisclosed.
The phrase ‘Stay Gold’ carries significant meaning for both of them. It not only serves as the title of a song from the musical but also reflects the last words of one character, emphasizing the need to maintain innocence and kindness in a tough world—a message that the mother and daughter now proudly embody.
Jolie’s tattoo announcement has ignited discussions among the public. Some have expressed concerns about Vivienne being “too young” for a tattoo. One person remarked, “I thought it was illegal for anyone under 21 to get a tattoo.” Another commented, “I would never allow my 16-year-old to get a tattoo just because it matched mine.”
Conversely, many are supporting Angelina and sharing their own cherished experiences. One individual noted, “I did the same thing with my mom and sisters when I was 16…still one of my favorites.” Another shared, “Our daughter was 17 when we got her first tattoo for her birthday…then a couple of months later, we got matching ones on the tops of our feet.”
Interestingly, this isn’t Jolie’s first instance of getting matching tattoos with her children. She also mentioned, “There is a bird that I share with some of my kids that holds personal significance for us.”
