Man Builds Special Bond With a Fox He Rescued–Now She Wants to Hug Him Every Day (WATCH)

A 74-year-old man has formed an extraordinary bond with a fox he once rescued, who now insists on daily cuddles with him.

Seven years ago, the fox cub, later named Sweep, arrived at the Nuneaton and Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary in dire health. Geoff Grewcock, the sanctuary’s owner, suspected she’d been poisoned and spent a year nursing her back to full strength. However, the care she received led her to imprint on him, making it impossible to release her back into the wild. Today, Sweep resides at the sanctuary alongside other animals being rehabilitated.

“Sweep is such a gentle, affectionate fox,” Geoff shared from his center in Nuneaton, England. “While others can pet her, I’m her favorite—she won’t go a day without our hug. I believe it’s her way of saying thanks for the care she receives.”

Despite her current good health, Geoff recalls how uncertain her survival was when she first arrived. “At the beginning, her chances didn’t look good. She was so weak I had to bottle-feed her and even administered saline injections at night.”

Fortunately, with treatment and dedication, Sweep pulled through and has now been thriving at the sanctuary for seven years.

James Cook, a wildlife content creator from London, visited the sanctuary in June and captured the touching relationship between Geoff and Sweep.

“Sweep is completely smitten with Geoff,” James said. “They hugged for a solid 10 minutes while I was there. It was heartwarming to witness a fox being so close and affectionate—something you rarely see in these wild animals.”
