Transforming her home to fit her personal style and desires has become a priority for our main character now that her children have their own families and her parents have settled in another area. This means her new living space was chosen entirely based on her preferences, resulting in her ownership of an apartment in a classic mid-century building.
Although the last renovation here was over two decades ago, she didn’t delay giving the interior a fresh, modern update. She hired a professional designer to bring her ideas to life. Let’s take a look at the results of this transformation.
Entryway The designer recommended adding bold colors to make the apartment’s appearance pop, and the owner agreed without hesitation. A rich berry shade was chosen for the entryway walls. Since this area is a pass-through space, the vibrant color won’t feel overwhelming. A high-quality, light-toned laminate covers the floor, and by the entrance sits a compact console table, a small ottoman, and a mirror. A storage system, painted to match the walls, keeps the entry functional and harmonious.
Kitchen The flooring here is tiled with an energetic pattern, while the walls have a soft pink hue that complements the cabinetry. All the appliances are built-in, creating a seamless look. Light, rectangular tiles for the backsplash were contrasted with dark grout, adding a bit of edge. In one corner, a round dining table with a couple of berry-colored chairs makes for a cozy breakfast nook.
Living Room and Office An old partition between the hallway and this space was replaced with a glass wall, which can be covered with curtains for privacy. Since she often works from home, setting up a workspace near the window was an ideal solution.
Next to the workspace stands a spacious shelving unit with tinted glass doors. A large, light-colored sofa that converts into a guest bed sits at the entrance of the living room, creating a flexible area for hosting friends or family.
Bedroom The private room serves as the main bedroom, featuring soothing, light, and warm tones to create a cozy, peaceful atmosphere. On one side, a spacious built-in wardrobe offers ample storage, while the centerpiece of the room is a comfortable bed with a soft headboard, inviting relaxation. A TV is mounted across from the bed, enhancing the ambiance, and there’s even a stylish chair perfect for unwinding with a book.
Bathroom By combining the bathroom and toilet into one space, they expanded the usable area significantly. Three types of tile were used for variety, and the berry accent color appears here too in the form of a hanging vanity. Instead of a traditional bathtub, a shower stall was installed, leaving space for a washing machine nearby.
