My Coworker Mocked My Boyfriend’s Job—So We Gave Her a Taste of Her Own Medicine

I work as an architect, and my boyfriend, Luke, became a delivery driver after he lost his previous job. Honestly, I’ve never met anyone more hardworking or determined, and I’m incredibly proud of him. But not everyone sees what I see.

One of my coworkers—someone I barely even interacted with—started making these subtle, snide comments about my relationship. She kept implying I was dating below my standards, like being with Luke somehow reflected poorly on me. At first, I shrugged it off. I told myself it wasn’t worth the drama. But after weeks of passive-aggressive remarks, I hit a breaking point.

I went home one evening and told Luke everything. I even said I was thinking of going to HR about it. He just smiled, shook his head, and said, “Let me handle it.”

The next day, a package showed up at the office with her name on it. She looked excited—until she opened it. Inside was a gold-plated trophy that read: “World’s Most Judgmental Coworker.” Her face dropped instantly. She snapped the box shut and stormed out. After that, she never made another comment about Luke or our relationship.

But the office vibe shifted. Some people cheered me on, saying it was about time someone stood up to her. Others thought Luke and I had crossed a line. There was a definite tension, and I couldn’t help but wonder—did we go too far? Did I make things better for myself, or just stir the pot?

I still don’t know the answer. But I do know this: I finally stopped feeling ashamed for loving someone who treats me with nothing but respect.
