Authorities are looking into the death of Presley Gerber, the 27-year-old son of supermodel Cindy Crawford, after his death was reported as a suspected overdose.
Gerber died Sunday at a rehabilitation facility, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. Santa Monica police said Monday that the investigation is ongoing and that the precise cause of death has not yet been established. Police also said there is currently no evidence suggesting that foul play was involved.
A representative for Crawford and her husband, businessman Rande Gerber, asked the public to respect the family’s privacy while they cope with the loss.
Presley followed his mother’s footsteps into modeling, beginning his runway career at just 16 when he walked for Italian fashion house Moschino. He later worked with major international fashion brands including Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana and Bottega Veneta.
His younger sister, Kaia Gerber, also became a successful model. Their father, Rande Gerber, is a prominent businessman who co-founded the Casamigos tequila company with actor George Clooney.
Over the years, Presley was candid about his struggles with mental health and substance use. During a 2023 appearance on the Studio 22 podcast, he spoke about his experiences with depression and other personal difficulties, saying he hoped that sharing what he had gone through might help others facing similar struggles.

Kaia has also spoken publicly about the impact of her brother’s addiction on their family. In a recent interview with American Vogue, she described how deeply such an experience can affect everyone in a household. She explained that she had often viewed herself as the family member who was “easy” and avoided asking for help.
Kaia also reflected on her parents’ traditionally private approach to family matters. She said Presley’s openness had changed that dynamic, allowing the family to confront difficult issues more honestly rather than keeping them hidden.
Despite his struggles, Presley had frequently spoken about how close he was to his family, particularly his sister. The siblings appeared together in a Calvin Klein campaign in 2018, and Presley even had Kaia’s name tattooed on his arm.
That same year, he described their relationship to People, noting that the two often traveled together for work and that their closeness helped make life on the road feel less isolating.
Presley also shared the screen with his famous mother in a Pepsi commercial that aired during the 2018 Super Bowl. The appearance carried a special connection to Crawford’s own history with the brand, coming 26 years after her iconic Pepsi advertisement in 1992.
Speaking about the experience at the time, Presley described working alongside his mother as relaxed and enjoyable, comparing it to spending a day at work with a close friend.

Just a few months before his death, Crawford publicly celebrated her son’s 27th birthday. In July, she posted two photos from his childhood on Instagram, reflecting on how much he had grown.
She expressed her pride in the man he had become while acknowledging that, to her, he would always remain her little bo
