Piano prodigy Ryan Wang, after winning hearts on “The Ellen Show” and performing at Carnegie Hall, gave a special private concert for 101-year-old Dorothy Landry. This heartfelt event, organized by CBC Music, saw 5-year-old Ryan play “Variations on an Inner Mongolian Folk Song” just for Dorothy. Despite being a fan of Ryan since he was three, Dorothy’s hearing impairment had made it tough for her to fully enjoy his previous concerts. To give her a more personal and immersive experience, CBC Music arranged this intimate performance.
In a cozy room, Dorothy sat in her wheelchair while young Ryan, holding a large teddy bear, bounced with excitement. He told “Grandma Dorothy” how much it meant to him to play for her, bringing a joyful smile to her face as she felt the magic of his music. Dorothy, deeply touched, called Ryan a “very special little person” and expressed her enthusiasm for his future performances. She asked him to visit her again after his trip to China, highlighting the beautiful bond they shared and the universal language of music that brought them together.
