10 Years of Forgotten Anniversaries — Here’s How I Made Sure My Husband Would Never Forget Again

After a decade of marriage, my husband has yet to remember our anniversary. He always says, “I can’t remember everything.” I’ve reached my limit! This year, I made sure he would never forget this date again. After he left, I decided to handle things myself.

I started by adorning the house in a manner that would leave a lasting impression. The walls were adorned with red and white streamers, heart-shaped balloons, and a collection of framed photos capturing our memories from the past decade. Right in the center was our wedding photo, enlarged and strategically positioned so that it would catch his eye the moment he stepped through the door.

Afterwards, I put together an extravagant dinner: I carefully prepared his most beloved dishes with utmost precision. The delightful scent of roasted chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, and freshly baked bread wafted through the house. I also made a rich chocolate cake, reminiscent of the one we enjoyed on our wedding day. I yearned for perfection, a striking contrast to his constant forgetfulness.

And I didn’t stop there. I had a cunning scheme to make sure he would never dare to overlook our anniversary in the future. I penned a sincere letter, baring my emotions, articulating the pain I had endured throughout the years, and emphasizing the significance of this day to me. I carefully attached the letter to a lovely anniversary card and placed it on his pillow, anticipating that he would discover it before retiring for the night.

At long last, I decided to do something a bit more dramatic. I decided to surprise him by swapping out his regular phone alarm with a heartfelt recording of our wedding vows. I wanted his day to begin with a gentle reminder of the commitments we shared.

As he returned to his humble abode, a sense of awe washed over him as he beheld the stunning array of decorations. “What is happening here?” he asked, feeling confused.

“Happy anniversary,” I said, attempting to maintain a composed tone.

He scratched his head, looking genuinely confused. “Is it today? I… I’m sorry, I must have forgotten.”

I attempted to suppress my irritation as I guided him towards the dining room, where a beautifully arranged table awaited us for a romantic dinner. As we sat down to eat, I couldn’t help but notice a change in his expression. It was as if he had finally recognized the hard work and dedication I had poured into preparing the meal.

After dinner, we had a heartfelt conversation where I opened up about my emotions and expressed the pain I felt when he consistently forgot our important anniversary. He paid attention, finally understanding me.

As we settled down for the night, he stumbled upon a letter. As he read it, I noticed tears shimmering in his eyes. He expressed genuine remorse and made a commitment to improve.

As the sun rose, his alarm jolted us awake, the sweet sound of our wedding vows echoing through the room. His expression shifted, a mix of surprise and realization crossing his face, as if he had just grasped the true extent of my emotions.

Ever since that day, he has never once forgotten our anniversary. Every year, he meticulously organized something extraordinary, and we joyously celebrated together, treasuring the moments we made.

I couldn’t believe it, but my daring decision had paid off. I made sure that this date would be etched in his memory forever, not only as our anniversary, but as the pivotal moment in our marriage.
