French actor Alain Delon has passed away at the age of 88. His family has not yet disclosed further details. A month before his death, Delon’s daughter, Anouchka Delon, shared photos of her gravely ill father, who had been diagnosed with cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. She noted that the photos were taken with her father’s approval.
In addition to Anouchka, Alain Delon is survived by two sons—Anthony and Alain-Fabien.
In June, Anouchka addressed her father in a heartfelt post and shared an archival black-and-white photo in which she kissed his hand. Alain Delon’s son also mentioned that his father had considered euthanasia. The actor himself admitted that he had thought about it, stating that as one grows older, one “has the right to leave this world quietly, without hospitals and injections.”
Delon made his film debut in 1957 with “Quand la femme s’en mêle” (“When a Woman Meddles”). His breakthrough came in 1960 with “Purple Noon.” He then starred in “Rocco and His Brothers” and “The Leopard,” the latter earning him a Golden Globe nomination. Delon received numerous prestigious awards, including honors from the Berlin and Locarno Film Festivals, the Italian Cinema Academy’s “David di Donatello,” and Germany’s “Golden Camera.”
Previously, a court had placed Alain Delon under enhanced guardianship.
