Billy is a rescue dog who journeyed from a Texas shelter to his new home in Vancouver, Canada. His adoptive family is teaching him to communicate with interactive buttons, and he’s quickly settled on two favorites: “hungry” and “music.” While his hunger is no surprise, his taste in music is unique.
Billy has a fondness for classical and orchestral music, showing a clear dislike for radio tunes. He loves live performances, especially those featuring his mom playing the piano. When he wants music, he taps on the piano bench, nudges the pedals, or presses the “music” button on his word board.
The family sometimes invites a local string quartet to play for him, and they’ve even taken him to a Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra practice, dressed in a puppy tuxedo. Billy is a mix of several breeds—German Shepherd, husky, chow chow, Australian shepherd, and pit bull—and while his love for music is a mystery, it’s evident that it brings him joy. His owners have tried giving him piano lessons, but he much prefers listening to his mom play.
