Once a Hollywood Beauty Icon, Sophia Loren Is 92 Today — Here’s How She Looks Now!

Few stars have defined glamour the way Sophia Loren has. Born Sofia Villani Scicolone on September 20, 1934, the legendary Italian actress has now reached 92, and she remains one of the last living symbols of Hollywood’s Golden Age.

Her story began far from the red carpet. Raised in Pozzuoli, near Naples, in difficult post-war years, she grew up under the watch of her determined mother, Romilda Villani, who dreamed of a brighter future for her daughter. At 15, Sophia moved to Rome with her mother and began working as an extra.

Her path changed after she entered the Miss Italia pageant in 1950 as a teenager. She did not win the crown, but she made an impression and was awarded the Miss Elegance title. Film producer Carlo Ponti spotted her potential and helped her adopt the name the world would soon know: Sophia Loren.

Stardom followed fast. Her breakout came in 1954 with Vittorio De Sica’s “The Gold of Naples,” and soon she was one of the most photographed women on the planet. Hollywood called, and she shared the screen with giants like Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra, and John Wayne.

But Loren was never just a beauty. In 1960, she gave a raw, heartbreaking performance in “Two Women,” which earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress. She made history as the first performer to win an Oscar for a role in a non-English-language film. She later received an honorary Oscar in 1991 for her lifetime of work.

Her on-screen partnership with Marcello Mastroianni became one of cinema’s most beloved. Together they gave audiences classics like “Marriage Italian Style” and “A Special Day,” and Loren has always named him as her favorite co-star.

Off screen, her greatest love story was with Carlo Ponti. The two were married for decades, until his passing in 2007, and raised two sons, Carlo Jr. and Edoardo. In 2020, she returned to the screen in “The Life Ahead,” directed by her son Edoardo, proving that her talent had not faded with time.

So how does she look now? At 92, Sophia Loren still carries herself with the poise and elegance that made her famous. For her 90th birthday, she celebrated in Rome wearing a gown by her longtime friend Giorgio Armani, surrounded by family, friends, and admirers. The years have changed her appearance, as they do for everyone, but the dignity, warmth, and unmistakable presence remain.

Loren has long credited her glow to simple habits: a Mediterranean diet rich in fresh vegetables, fish, and olive oil, plus plenty of sleep and a positive outlook. Her life has been a reminder that true beauty is about spirit as much as appearance.
