A little boy, age 2, is rescued from a swimming pool by a teenager after he accidentally fell in. The life of the little kid was saved as a direct result of her prompt efforts.
Savennah Mendes-Rodrigues, who is now 19 years old, was just studying inside her home when she heard people shouting for help outside.
She recalled, “I walked to the kitchen, and there’s a little kid on the floor, and they were like, ‘he fell in the pool.'”
Savennah, who is trained in CPR, jumped right in to help the 2-year-old boy.
“Actually, I was quite calm. While others were freaking out in the background, I just began doing chest compressions until (the emergency medical technicians) arrived. “It seemed as if he was just sleeping since his eyes were closed. But you should be aware that there is no way to tell for sure, and because you are always instructed to begin chest compressions until someone takes over, that is precisely what I did.”
After the arrival of the paramedics, who took control at that point, the toddler was immediately transported to a hospital. He is likely to recover and live as a result of Savennah’s help!
Savennah said, “I wasn’t thinking about anything; I was just in the moment, like ‘Oh my gosh,’ and then I was like, ‘Oh my God, I think I just saved him.'”
